Jack & Jill - ADOPTED

Meet the Puppy

Siblings (who look nothing alike), Jack and Jill, were dumped at the Humane Society, and the Humane Society reached out for rescue help to get these two, given their skittish nature. They needed exposure that the world is not such a scary place. Slowly, but surely, we have given them the TLCS, tender love, and care, AND most importantly, and structure, to continue that path of success. We are looking for separate homes for them, as we do not adopt out siblings together.

Temperament

Jack- Cream - ADOPTED

Jack has proven to be a social butterfly and a busy bee! He very curious about his humans, and loves to follow them around and check in with them, scoot off to play, and come back to check that you have not left him. He’s too busy to be a lap dog, but he’s definitely loving and loyal to the humans who care for him, and loves attention and pets. He’s just too much of a busy bee to have time to hang in your lap. He is INCREDIBLY playful with other dogs (of all sizes). He’s respectful of their space, but is eager to play. Jack was extremely protective of his sister Jill when we first welcomed them to our foster care, but once we separated them, they each flourish individually, realizing the world is not so scary!

Jill - Black - ADOPTED

Jill is definitely the more sensitive, dramatic sister. She’ll squeal out of fear when a new dog approaches her, making sounds and gestures that could win her an Academy Award. Once she realizes new comers are not a threat, she is just all fun. She loves to play and wrestle with her dog pack. She’s a little more apprehensive and nervous around new situations, but she is pretty loyal to her humans. Once she settles into her posse, she follows her humans around and likes to stick close. She bonds quickly with anyone who plays with her level, and was quite smitten of her 8 year old human foster brother who would play with her on the floor. Even though she’s more dramatic, in a lot of ways she’s more laid back, ready to follow her humans on whatever adventure they take her on. We’d love to see her future owner work with a trainer to help her build confidence through balanced training around new people and experiences.

Needs

  • Jack and Jill would like a back yard and more suburban living. The middle of the city might be a bit too much hustle for these two! Traditional fencing is NOT required.

  • Both Jack and Jill would love dog siblings or friends. Their confidence will continue to grow with an older sibling or close neighborhood doggie friends.

  • Jack and Jill will be best suited to an to an active family or couple, willing to give them regular walks, runs, trails, and adventures, and plenty of playtime. Jack is not a couch potato, he likes to go go go go go! They should continue socialization with other dogs through puppy play dates.

  • Adopters should be ready to start PROFESSIONAL training with one of our recommended trainers to continue proper dog socialization, work on nice leash manners using leash pressure and appropriate tools, and heel-side walking, structured walking, place command, and prepare for off-leash remote collar fun.

  • As an organization, we advocate balanced training, and not “purely positive training.” Balanced training strikes a happy balance between a TON of positive rewards, but also rules, structure, and specific tools to set tone and boundaries for our dogs. We are firm believers that the more rules you have for your dog when they are young, the more freedom they earn as they get older. So set down expectations and boundaries for your dog now with a trainer and the right tools, so they can be part of all the family fun! Those with balanced training experience, and experience with slip lead/training collar/prong/remote collar as communication tools are preferred but not required!

Those who don’t believe in rules, routine, and structure for your dog, need not apply.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, we will only consider applicants where one adult has a more flexible schedule, as puppies are a lot of work, and will require potty breaks, exercise, training and continued human and dog socialization as they grow up.

Crate/Potty Training

All puppies and dogs rescued by FAVOR are crate trained, sleeping in the crate from 8pm-6am (with a potty break around 11pm), and accustomed to some day crate time as well. Puppies also understand the basic concept of peeing outside, but there is ALWAYS a transition period where crate cries and potty accidents WILL HAPPEN in a new home, as the dog transitions to new rules and ways to communicate.

We always recommend keeping dogs crated during nap times, bed time, and when they are alone to protect them from danger such as chewing on cords, socks, and other objects. Foreign objects can get stuck in their stomachs which can result in a very expensive surgery. We also encourage using the crate like a bedroom for your dogs as they get older, where they can take naps, take a break from human interaction, and have a time out. More importantly, the crate provides them a safe place to go to when things get overwhelming, like a lot of people, loud noises, extreme weather. Think of the crate as their “den,” and a place for them to unwind. We all need a break sometimes!
